At your first visit our Treatment Coordinator will take a series of digital photographs of your face and teeth and find out what your chief concerns are. Dr. Toothman or Dr. Barra will do a full exam in order to determine the needs of you or your child. The results of your exam and your digital photos are printed out on a letter to take home and a copy is also sent to your dentist.

There can be several outcomes from this visit:
  • Full orthodontic treatment is needed now.
  • Treatment is not needed at all.
  • Treatment will be needed but at a later time depending on tooth eruption, growth patterns or other factors resulting in putting your child into our recall system.
  • An interceptive treatment may be needed now, such as primary extractions or use of a functional appliance.
If treatment is needed, our Treatment Coordinator will explain the sequence of appointments, discuss financial options available and set up the appointments to get started. Diagnostic records would be needed first to determine your individualized treatment plan. These records consist of study models and various x-rays.
It would be helpful if the following information is provided at your first visit:
  • Any recent x-rays (taken within the last 6 months).
  • Insurance information.
  • All completed new patient forms (previously mailed to you).
