First Visit

At your first visit our Treatment Coordinator will take a series of digital photographs of your face and teeth and find out what your chief concerns are. Dr. Toothman or Dr. Barra will do a full exam in order to determine the needs of you or your child. The results of your exam and your digital photos are printed out on a letter to take home and a copy is also sent to your dentist. View our HIPAA privacy policy in PDF format »

There can be several outcomes from this visit:

  • Full orthodontic treatment is needed now.
  • Treatment is not needed.
  • Treatment will be needed but at a later time depending on tooth eruption, growth patterns or other factors resulting in placing your child into our recall system.
  • Interceptive treatment may be needed now, such as primary extractions or the use of a functional appliance.

If treatment is needed, our Treatment Coordinator will explain the sequence of appointments, discuss financial options available and set up the appointments to get started. Diagnostic records would be needed first to determine your individualized treatment plan. These records consist of study models and various x-rays.

Helpful information to bring to your first visit:

  • Any recent x-rays (taken within the last 6 months).
  • Insurance information.
  • All completed new patient forms (previously mailed to you or printed online).
